Manual Handling and CPR Course for Carers and Nurses

HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely & HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This Manual Handling and CPR Course is designed for personal carers, nurses and healthcare workers who perform manual handling tasks and may need to respond to medical emergencies. Furthermore, the course provides practical skills to move people and objects safely while developing confidence to perform CPR during a cardiac emergency.

Throughout this Manual Handling and CPR Course, participants learn how to identify hazardous manual tasks, apply safe lifting and movement techniques, and understand body mechanics to reduce workplace injuries. In addition, students learn how to recognise cardiac arrest, call emergency services, perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Training aligns with Commonwealth and State legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards, the Hazardous Manual Tasks Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. As a result, participants gain nationally recognised skills for healthcare, aged care and community care environments.
