Manual Handling and CPR Training

HLTWHS005 & HLTAID009 Course Set for Healthcare Workers

The Manual Handling and CPR Training course combines HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely and HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Furthermore, it supports healthcare workers, personal carers and nurses who perform manual handling tasks and may need to respond to cardiac emergencies.

In addition, participants learn how to recognise hazardous manual tasks, apply safe manual handling techniques, understand body mechanics, perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). As a result, this course supports both workplace injury prevention and emergency response.

What You Will Learn

  • Recognise and manage hazardous manual tasks
  • Apply safe manual handling techniques
  • Use correct body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Recognise cardiac arrest
  • Call emergency services
  • Perform CPR on adults and infants
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Place a casualty into the recovery position

Therefore, participants build practical skills for safer care environments. Likewise, they gain confidence to respond during a cardiac emergency.

Manual Handling Skills

  • Assess hazardous manual tasks
  • Apply safe lifting and moving techniques
  • Perform horizontal manual handling tasks
  • Perform high-to-low manual handling tasks
  • Perform low-to-high manual handling tasks

Consequently, learners reduce workplace injury risk and support safer movement practices. Additionally, they learn techniques that protect both workers and the people in their care.

CPR and Emergency Response Skills

  • Recognise cardiac arrest
  • Perform adult CPR
  • Perform infant CPR
  • Use an AED safely
  • Provide care until emergency services arrive

Furthermore, participants practise emergency response skills during face-to-face assessment. As a result, they can act more confidently in real workplace emergencies.
