HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication
The Assist Clients with Medication Training course gives participants the skills and knowledge required to safely support clients with medication in aged care, disability support, community care and other health services. Furthermore, participants learn how to assist people with self-administering medication, complete medication documentation and follow workplace procedures.
In addition, students develop an understanding of different medication types, administration methods and commonly used prescribed and over-the-counter medications. As a result, participants gain practical skills that support safe medication management in a wide range of care environments.
Please note: The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) recommends Medication Management training is refreshed annually. Therefore, workers should keep their knowledge current with policies, procedures and safe medication support techniques.

Course Delivery
We deliver this course online with workplace assessment or at an Emcare WA Pty Ltd training facility. Alternatively, workplace groups may arrange training to suit their operational needs.

Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capability to use appropriate equipment, posture and handling techniques while assisting with medication administration. Before enrolling, participants should ensure they can safely complete all practical assessment activities.

No work placement is required as part of this course.

Theory Assessment
The written assessment consists of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. Students must complete all assessment questions.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
This certificate does not require renewal. However, NDIS recommends refreshing Medication Management training annually to stay current with policies and procedures.
