Course Delivery

This course can be completed at an Emcare WA training facility or delivered onsite for workplaces and group bookings. Alternatively, eligible participants may complete online learning before attending the practical assessment.

Course Duration

Course duration may vary depending on the delivery method.

  • Refresher: Minimum 150 minutes
  • Face-to-face: Minimum 240 minutes
  • Online with face-to-face: 60-minute practical assessment session

Entry Requirements

Participants must demonstrate the following before commencing training:

  • Physical capability to complete practical assessment activities
  • Language, literacy and numeracy skills to interpret workplace procedures
  • Oral and written communication skills to complete workplace documentation

In addition, participants completing online learning must have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access.

Assessment Requirements

This course includes practical demonstrations, documentation and theory assessment.

  • Safely dispose of a single exposed sharp
  • Safely manage multiple exposed and hidden sharps
  • Safely dispose of infectious waste

Documentation

  • Complete a workplace Risk Assessment

Theory Assessment

Participants must complete a written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Certificate Renewal

This nationally recognised certificate does not currently require renewal.
